You can make it happen!

Engaging with an SCL learning programme provides you with the tools for your next steps.

SCL learning programmes empower learners to consider their future decisions whether that is into Employment, Higher Education, Apprenticeships or Further Education.
As a learner with SCL, you will gain valuable skills, encounter new opportunities, and achieve a qualification. More importantly, you will be supported in your decision making for a future pathway.

Our Level 6 qualified and registered Careers Professionals provide careers education, information, advice & guidance aligned to the Careers Development Institute (CDI) Code of Ethics https://www.thecdi.net/code-of-ethics

As a learner with SCL, you will have access to impartial, confidential, and relevant careers guidance to enable a successful transition onto the next step of your journey, whatever that may be.

iD PASSPORT
SCL has a weekly tutorial programme ‘iD Passport’ that aims to develop your personal skills and knowledge through themes around Self Awareness, Choices and Pathways, Health & Lifestyle, Community Awareness, and Global Environment and Sustainability.

You will receive talks from guest speakers on a range of topics including next steps – scholarships and university choices – linked to the 6 themes above.

You will learn about British Values, how to stay safe, budgeting, UCAS applications, CV building, and much more.

Higher Education

University is a great option if you are looking to continue your studies from Level 4 and above. However, some Colleges, and Independent Providers also offer higher level programmes.

SCL offers a Level 4 Higher National Certificate (HNC) via distance learning in partnership with De Montfort University. The Level 5 Higher National Diploma (HND) due to commence in September 2024. Find out more.

These higher technical qualifications can provide you with both an individual qualification, or can be used as a stepping stone to a full bachelor’s degree.

As part of the weekly tutorial programme ‘iD Passport’, you will receive support and guidance with UCAS and Student Finance applications.
UCAS now provides access to Apprenticeship vacancies and you are encouraged to create a UCAS account. https://www.ucas.com/

Apprenticeships

Alternatively, if you decide to combine further study with employment, an apprenticeship is also a great option, allowing you to earn while you continue to learn.

Employers typically cover the cost of an Apprenticeship programme that will provide you with a structured pathway to gain skills, knowledge, and qualifications at differing levels in your chosen field.

SCL offer a range of Apprenticeship programmes from Level 2 to Level 6 across varying sectors. Find out more.

As a learner with SCL, you will be supported with CV building, the online application, and the interview process if this is your chosen next step.

HIGHER AND DEGREE APPRENTICSHIPS

Higher Apprenticeships are at Level 4 and Level 5 whilst Degree Apprenticeships are at Level 6 and 7.

Degree Apprenticeships enable you to gain a university level qualification while being employed and earning.
