This Introduction to the Sports Industry will prepare, nurture, and develop learners with the required knowledge, skills, and behaviours for working within the sector.
This unique programme will combine a Level 2 in Employability Skills qualification with work experience within various sports industry roles, English & maths Functional Skills, and careers information, advice and guidance and personal development.
This programme will provide an excellent opportunity for learners to develop specific, role related knowledge, skills and behaviours including the achievement of an accredited qualifications.
Learners will have the opportunity to study at one of our aspirational club learning venues, which will present unique benefits associated with our highly prestigious sports club partnerships.
With a strong focus on positive destinations, this programme guarantees all participants with an interview for an apprenticeship and/or future study with SCL Education.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, where possible, one being in English or maths (although this will not prevent entry to the programme where learners demonstrate appropriate behaviours and attitudes towards their ongoing English and maths development)
or
a relevant Level 1 qualification, such as a BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Sport and Active Leisure, plus an ability to operate at Level 1 in either English or maths.
AGE:
For 16-18-year olds
Learners aged 19+ may be eligible for funding if they have an EHCP
COST:
The cost of this tuition is fully funded for 16-18-year old’s.
Sports kit may be required, dependent on education centre.

The aim is to help you to successfully prepare for and get a job, while providing you with the tools to succeed and advance in your role. This qualification has been designed with maximum flexibility in mind, in order to meet your learning requirements.
This qualification enables you to progress onto employment or further learning, while allowing you to demonstrate your knowledge and ability, utilising wider key skills, including:

SCL are nationally accredited for information, advice and guidance and we are trained in these areas to help you with your development.
Our Careers Leader oversees our careers information, advice & guidance strategy. Each learner will receive impartial and relevant guidance to support a successful transition onto their next step of their professional journey, wherever that may be.
Our Careers Leader is dedicated to supporting you to understand your career options and how to get there. This is underpinned by a programme of work experience and continual development of work-ready and life skills.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
Our passionate team of Progress Coaches will deliver SCL’s Personal Development Programme, which will consist of a blend of group workshops and individual development meetings, aimed to add significant value to the progress and development of each learner.
The programme will include key themes such as morals and values, mental health awareness, healthy relationships, digital skills, and careers, and will form part of your timetable, with a scheduled 1.5 hours per week.
Your Personal Development Programme will allow you to stand out from the crowd. You will develop the behaviours, attitudes and values, inspired by sport, which are transferrable into the professional world, supporting you to receive the best possible opportunities for your future.
In addition, the Progress Coach team will support learners through an online ‘Essentials’ programme, aiming to grow their social awareness and develop them for success.
ENGLISH & MATHS
If you are yet to pass a qualification in English and/or maths prior to starting your programme with SCL, you will be required to study one or both as part of your programme.
We know that English and maths can be challenging and have invested in our services to help you overcome that challenge. Upon course completion, the skills you acquire will be evidenced by a Functional Skills qualification.

We understand the importance of real work experience in the world of sport which is why, as part of your programme, you will take part in a industry-relevant work experience.
During your programme, you will receive opportunities to experience a range of careers within sport which link directly to your qualification.
In addition to this, should you wish to pursue a career within the wider sports world, we can provide you with exposure through work experience placements to a range of careers within the industry.
CAREERS SUPPORTED BY YOUR QUALIFICATION:
We will provide work experience opportunities as part of your Level 2 in Employability Skills study programme, so that you can develop your the knowledge, skills and behaviours to progress. This also provides an excellent opportunity to experience careers that your qualification provides a stepping stone towards.

- Sports Coach
- Health Promotion Specialist
- Events Manager
- Youth Worker
- Fitness Instructor
WIDER SPORTS CAREERS:
We also provide opportunities to experience careers within the wider sports sector, where your qualification might not directly provide entry.
However, work experience within these areas could provide sound information, advice and guidance that will allow you to make an informed decision regarding your next step.
