COLLEGE. DONE DIFFERENT.

SCL is an established post-16 education provider, delivering specialist Sports and Performing Arts pathways for learners aged 16–19 and 16–25, including those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Our provision is designed for learners who may struggle to engage, attend, or progress in large, mainstream FE settings, and who benefit from smaller learning environments, consistent staffing, and personalised support.

SCL is currently graded ‘Good’ (Grade 2) by Ofsted and operates across a range of local centres, often in partnership with professional clubs or academies. In all settings, SCL is the education provider.

Policies

SCL is particularly suited to learners who:

  • Require small group learning and predictable routines
  • Benefit from practical, interest-led education
  • Need support with confidence, engagement, attendance, or anxiety
  • Are preparing for adulthood and future employment pathways

We have experience supporting learners with:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Specific and Moderate Learning Difficulties

Learners access a broad and balanced post-16 curriculum, with:

  • Accredited English and maths (where appropriate)
  • Vocational qualifications aligned to sports or performing arts pathways
  • Personal development, employability, and preparation for adulthood

Sports and Performing Arts are used as structured engagement tools, supporting motivation, emotional regulation, and attendance, while ensuring learners work towards meaningful, accredited outcomes.

Class sizes are intentionally small, enabling high levels of individual support and strong relationships with staff.

SCL has a dedicated SEND and Learning Support Team, who work collaboratively with learners, families, and local authorities.

Support is delivered using an Assess–Plan–Do–Review approach, with EHCP outcomes embedded into individual learning plans and reviewed regularly.

SCL actively participates in:

  • Annual reviews
  • Transition planning
  • Multi-agency consultation

A limited number of EHCP-commissioned places are available each academic year, and we welcome early consultation as part of post-16 planning via email: ehcp.secure@wearescl.co.uk
