We understand that a good level of English and Maths is important for securing a job, changing career path or continuing your studies into Further or Higher Education.
We’re supporting adults that haven’t yet achieved GCSE English and/or Maths to earn an equivalent Level 2 Functional Skills qualification, providing them with the literacy and numeracy skills they’ll need in most jobs, and a qualification recognised across the country by employers and education providers.

As you embark on this course, you will delve into a variety of modules designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in Maths and English. The course modules you will study include:
FUNCTIONAL SKILLS – ENGLISH
- Language techniques
- Purpose & layout of text
- Reading and writing techniques
- Sentence types and improving writing
- Reading for bias and comparison
FUNCTIONAL SKILLS – MATHS
- Fractions, decimals and percentages
- Angles and coordinates
- Converting between units and substitution
- Direct proportion and ratio
- Maps and scale drawings
- Averages
- Area and perimeter
- Surface area and volumes
- Circles and angles
- Scatter graphs and probabilities
Throughout your Functional Skills Maths/English programme, you’ll benefit from:
- Blended learning: individual learning programme to suit your needs
- Expert subject tutors:1 to 1 support, developmental progress calls, assessment per module and constructive feedback
- Online learning: the programme is delivered entirely online. All you need is a computer, laptop or tablet and a stable internet connection so you can learn from the comfort of your own home
- Free of charge: This course is completely free of charge and there are no fees when you enrol on this course
- Learn when you want: You have the freedom to complete your free English and Maths course in your own time so it fits around your daily schedule. Whether you want to study in 30 minute chunks or 2 hours in the evening – it’s completely up to you
